Family Fun Trip to the Zoo and Castle Visit at Castellar de la Frontera

ITT is sponsoring a family trip to Castellar de la Frontera Zoo located a few miles outside Sotogrande in the province of Cadiz.  This is a unique zoo whereby all the animals have been rescued and had been mistreated or neglected.  You will have the opportunity to get up really close and personal (touching and stroking) with some of the large cats including a young black panther, lion, ocelot, and other exotic animals. A really exciting interactive experience! There are also parrot shows and you will get the opportunity to handle birds of prey or you may buy small bags of seed and walk around feeding the animals.

After the zoo visit, we will visit the hilltop fortress for a self-guided visit and some picture taking. The Castellar Viejo fortress is preserved in good condition, despite being so ancient. The modest town in which it stands is also one of the few inhabited medieval fortifications today. The urban center consists of a small group of squares and short, narrow and winding streets, typical of Al-Andalus. The castle is currently fitted out as a hotel and inn-restaurant. Among the town's buildings, the palace of the Marquis of Moscoso and the Almoraima Monastery stand out especially. On a clear day, as well as the surrounding area, Algeciras Bay, the Rock of Gibraltar and the coast of Africa can be seen.

The trip includes transportation, entrance to the zoo, guided visit, simple lunch in the zoo, and self-guided visit of the castle.
