LOCATION:                                Fleet Readiness, MWR – USN Madrid

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

US Citizens who have a command sponsorship attached to USNSE Madrid.

 

INTRODUCTION:

This position is located within MWR in USN Madrid. The incumbent is involved in one or more recreational activities such as military or community activities; youth activities; outdoor recreation; ITT Office, Fitness/Athletics and sports programs, and /or other similar MWR recreational services.

 

DUTIES:

Incumbent is assigned to USNSE Madrid. Incumbent assists in the operation of the recreation activities. Based on established policies, incumbent carries out assigned phases of designated activity applying and understanding of the interest and needs of program participants. Typical assignments may include: establishing schedules of events, applying rules and regulations in supervising assigned youth participants; setting up gymnasiums and playing fields for sports events, etc.  Demonstrates procedures common to the activities, and instructs in the use of related equipment. Conducts instructional classes in the recreational area. Helps to plan and coordinates details of recreational activities and maintains related supplies. Assists in planning, scheduling and publicizing various activities to attract and motivate participants. May oversee sale of retail items associated with activities. Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations.  

Performs other related duties assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

 

Two years of combined experience related to customer service and/or recreation is preferred.    

Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in courses related to recreation (e.g., basic psychology, group dynamics, physical education, arts and crafts) may be substituted for 1 year of experience.

 

Ability to organized, plan, administer special events and entertainment activities.

 

Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

 

Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and methods of procedure used in organizing, planning and conducting all types of activities.

 

Knowledge of recreational and entertainment events.

 

Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production.

DRIVER LICENSE would be preferred.

 

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • This position requires successful completion of: Local Background Investigation and NACI Background.

  • Selected applicant will not lose any entitlement for future spouse preference eligibility (NAF/GS positions)

  • Selected is subject to direct deposit of pay

  • Persons who are US Citizens and also citizens of Portugal are not employable in a US Position.

  • If selected, military personnel must provide this office with written authorization from their command to work during off-duty hours.

  • NATO SOFA and Agreement on Defense Cooperation (ADC) between Spain and the United States are applicable when determining eligibility.
