The MWR Fitness Center at Naval Station Rota, Spain offers comprehensive fitness facilities, programs, and services designed to support mission readiness, personal wellness, and lifelong health for eligible patrons.

Whether you’re training for the Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT), participating in group fitness classes, or pursuing personal fitness goals, the Fitness Center provides the equipment, space, and professional support you need.


Eligibility & Access Requirements

100% ID check enforced

Eligible patrons include:

  • U.S. Active-Duty Service Members

  • Dependents (see Youth Authorization Chart for eligibility)

  • DoD Civilians

  • U.S. Retirees

  • Eligible Spanish military personnel and dependents (18+)

  • Authorized base civilians meeting Spanish protocol criteria

Please Note:

  • Personal bags are permitted only in locker rooms

  • Proper fitness attire is required

  • Youth must present a Youth Certification Card

  • 24-hour access sign-ups are available up to 30 minutes prior to unmanned hours

  • Weight Room (free weights & functional fitness equipment)

  • Cardio Room

  • NOFFS Zone

  • Family Exercise Room (reservation required)

  • Showers & exercise towels

  • Daily-use lockers or long-term rental

    • €5/month or €25 for 6 months

  • Sports Fields (soccer, football, softball)

  • PRT Room

  • Sports & exercise equipment checkout

  • Waterfront Fitness areas


Group Exercise Classes

The MWR Fitness Center offers a variety of group fitness classes held primarily in the Aerobics Room. Class locations may vary based on instructor availability and weather conditions. Please check with the front desk for confirmation.

  • Mommy Madness

  • Dynamic Yoga Flow

Personal Training Program

The MWR Personal Training Program provides individualized, one-on-one coaching tailored to your fitness goals, including:

  • Weight training

  • Core conditioning

  • Running & swim technique

  • Bodybuilding

  • Group exercise instruction

All MWR Personal Trainers are professionally certified and trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and the Navy Fitness Certification Program.

Navy Physical Readiness Program (PRT) Updates

The Navy Physical Readiness Program has introduced new fitness events aligned with the Culture of Excellence, enhancing Sailor readiness and injury prevention.

New PRT Events Include:

  • Forearm Plank (replacing curl-ups)

  • 2,000-meter row (alternate cardio option)

Service Members medically cleared for the Physical Fitness Assessment will complete:

  1. Push-ups

  2. Forearm plank

  3. Cardio or approved alternate cardio event
